Mortgage Rates Hit New Record Lows

Posted by Krystyna Baty on Saturday, January 21st, 2012 at 4:33pm.

Just as one thought that interest rates on home loans cannot go any lower, we saw them hit a new low at 3.89 for an average 30-year fixed rate mortgage.  Mortgage rates have not been that low since the 1950s.  The rate for a 15-year fixed mortgage rate rose slightly to 3.17% a week ago.

Unfortunately, many potential buyers cannot qualify for these low rates due to extremely high standards imposed by lenders in the last few years.
